Brewing History Tour - Eggenberg Brewery Tour

This tour includes a visit to the brewing house, which features century oldcopper tanks, the original fermentation and lager cellar and the bottle filling room. The tour ends with beer tasting in the former ice house, used until the early twentieth century to assure a cool environment for the fermentation process. Visitors may chose between dark, light, and yeast beer.

The brewing tradition in Ceský Krumlov goes back to 1336 when the citizens were granted a charter to make malt and brew and sell beer. In the old times, every eighth house in the town was a pub and there were five big breweries in the town satisfying the annual demand of 200 pints per head. Nowadays, the only brewery that has remained in operation since 1625 - is the EGGENBERG brewery.
